About the project 

Building on the successful EVIDEMS Erasmus+ project that prepared Master level learning & teaching materials for “pre-experience” students aspiring to become volunteer managers, "Upskilling Volunteer Managers in Sport" (UVMIS) will look at how the quality of volunteer management in sports organisations can be improved and expanded through the development of “post-experience” learning and training materials for volunteer managers active, or who have previously been active, in the sports sector, taking the organisational diversity into account. 

The UVMIS materials will be developed in the context and framework of formulating clear paths for validation of learning as part of, for example, Sports Management courses offered by the formal education sector, involving 180 sports volunteer managers during the implementation of road test events where they have the chance to give feedback on the materials, and 18 sports volunteer managers in the pilot training to test the materials. This will allow people with existing and past experience of volunteer management in the sports field to upskill and receive formal qualifications for their skills and competencies acquired in formal, non-formal and informal ways. The UVMIS Community of Practice will contribute to the sustainability of project outputs, involving at least 90 people in 5 online events throughout the project. In 7 countries the project's results will be disseminated to at least 260 stakeholders in national and international events. The project will lead to more awareness and recognition of the importance of quality volunteer management professionals for meaningful and impactful competitive and noncompetitive sports experiences at the local level (including associations), in national/ international federations and at all levels of community and mega sportingevents, also leading to increased retention of skilled people in the field. 

Informazioni sul progetto 

Partendo dal successo del progetto EVIDEMS Erasmus+, che ha portato alla preparazione di materiali didattici per un Master rivolto a studenti e studentesse interessati a diventare manager del volontariato, il progetto “Upskilling Volunteer Managers in Sport” (UVMIS) si concentrerà su come migliorare e ampliare la qualità della gestione dei volontari e delle volontarie nelle organizzazioni sportive. Questo sarà realizzato attraverso lo sviluppo di materiali di apprendimento e formazione destinati ai manager del volontariato che operano, o hanno operato, nel settore sportivo, tenendo conto della diversità organizzativa esistente nell’ambito. 

I materiali del progetto UVMIS saranno sviluppati all'interno di un quadro che prevede la creazione di percorsi per la gestione dei volontari e delle volontarie nello sport. Durante alcuni eventi, 180 manager sportivi volontari avranno l'opportunità di fornire feedback sui materiali sviluppati. Inoltre, 18 manager sportivi volontari parteciperanno a una formazione pilota per testare direttamente i materiali. Questo processo permetterà a coloro che possiedono esperienza pregressa nella gestione dei volontari nel settore sportivo di aggiornarsi e ricevere qualifiche formali per le competenze e abilità acquisite in modalità formale, non formale e informale. La Comunità di pratica UVMIS contribuirà alla sostenibilità dei risultati del progetto, coinvolgendo almeno 90 persone in 5 eventi online nel corso dello stesso. I risultati saranno diffusi in 7 paesi, raggiungendo almeno 260 stakeholder attraverso eventi nazionali e internazionali. Il progetto mira a sensibilizzare e riconoscere l'importanza della gestione dei volontari e delle volontarie, essenziale per garantire esperienze sportive significative e d'impatto, sia a livello locale (incluso nelle associazioni), nelle federazioni nazionali e internazionali, sia in eventi sportivi di grande portata, come i grossi eventi sportivi.
